2023 has a lot of good movies in store. From action to fantasy, there’s bound to be one that you’ll want to see.
Marvel Entertainment, LLC, the company known for producing superhero movies such as The Avengers, is releasing several new films this year. Most of these are sequels or threequels to already existing franchises. One example is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumanium. Coming out on February 17, it’s the third movie in the Ant-Man franchise. As you might already know, the general plot of Ant-Man is about a guy named Scott Lang, who’s recruited by Scientist Dr. Pym and his daughter, Hope, to fight villains, with the help of quantum physics. In this movie, we’ll see Cassie, Scott’s daughter, and Janet, Dr. Pym’s wife and, Hope’s long-lost mother added to the group as they travel through The Quantum Realm. Quantumania is rated PG-13.
Many people are also excited about Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse, which is coming out on June 2nd. Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse, the new movie’s predecessor, has to do with a kid named Miles Morales who finds out he’s Spiderman and that there are a lot more spider people in the other dimensions. “I love it! The way it’s animated is visually pleasing and makes it look like a comic,” says Ash Garcia-Bautista, an 8th grader at the Willow School High School. In Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse, Miles gets to travel through those different dimensions and meet many different versions of Spiderman, including a group called the Spider Force, whose job is to protect the multiverse. Soon, however, things go south when they disagree on what to do about a new enemy. This movie is rated PG.
A big movie coming out this year is the live-action Barbie movie. This PG-13 flick, to be released July 23, is about a doll living in Barbieland who’s kicked out into the real world because she’s not perfect. Through her journey in the real world, she discovers that it’s impossible to be perfect and that what’s on the inside matters more than what’s on the outside. In sum, this movie should be pretty different from past movies featuring Barbie.
There’s another girl being brought to life this year, with the live-action version of The Little Mermaid coming out on May 26. Like most Disney movies, it’s rated PG. While it mostly follows the plot of the original animated film, there’ll most likely be some changes. Unfortunately, not many details are available as of right now.
These are just a few movies to look forward to this year, with other movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Fast X, quite a few horror movies, and so much more. Once those movies get into theaters, make your way over there, buy some popcorn, and enjoy a movie as it was intended to be seen–on the big screen.
