What Is Senior Year Like?

Every freshman entering high school looks forward to that final year when you can graduate and move on to the next stage of life. So, what does it feel like to finally get there?

Senior year has lots of ups and downs. There are very fun parts, but, at the same time, you have to write your college essays, do your applications, and many other tough things. One major thing that most seniors struggle with is writing any sort of essay for college or applying to college.

“I think my biggest challenge was motivating myself to do my college applications,” senior Gaby Cortizas says.

On the other hand, senior year can also be very fun. Being a senior means you get lots of additional events or rewards that no other grade levels get. There are also things like Senior Sunrise or Senior Assassin that many upperclassmen look forward to.

“I like all of the senior events and participating in everything,” senior Lucy Rucker says. Participating in these senior activities can be a huge addition to senior year. These are things you can look forward to all throughout your high school career to motivate yourself to complete those stressful college essays and push through your final year of high school.

Seniors also have some changes they would like to make if they could. “Seniors should get the privilege of off campus lunch and maybe extra tardies.” says Olivia Brooks.

Seniors want special privileges to make senior year better for them. They would enjoy being able to go out to eat during lunch.

When it comes to additional classes, seniors do not have that many critiques.  “I wish there was another language option like German or Italian,” senior Sally Marshall said.

“I think a cooking class would be really fun and helpful,” Lucy Rucker adds.

Lastly, seniors wanted to give some advice to any underclassmen looking for it.  When it comes to high school, it is very hard to keep track of everything and stay on top of homework.

“Keep coming to school everyday, and keep trying in all of your classes,” Gugel said.
