Given this year’s circumstances, school has been nothing short of strange. To make up for that, the administration and family at Lusher have put together several events for seniors to remain socially distanced and still get the best out of their senior year. As a celebration of their graduation, this is a recap of this year’s senior events.
Parents especially have worked hard this year, putting together Valentine’s day packages for the seniors, which were left at their front doorsteps. The bags were filled with candy and small trinkets like bubble wands. These were all enjoyed safely at home.
Sophia Wilson, a senior said, “It was nice that even though we missed out on much of our junior year and most of our senior year, the parents came out to help and brighten our year.”
Lusher parents also came together to set up the donut drive-by, where seniors could drive up to the school to pick up free donuts and orange juice. They could then sit out in the field to eat together outside and listen to music while enjoying each other’s company.
“I showed up near the end of the donut drive-by and got tons of extra leftover donuts. It was spectacular!!” said senior Ava Gotzkowsky.
Administration also put together a senior movie night where over a hundred seniors gathered in the quad to watch Ferris Bueller’s Day Off on a projector. They had pizza and drinks to enjoy throughout the night. Despite a few obstacles with weather, everything worked out.
“Putting together Senior Movie Night was both fun and chaotic,” Ms. Bourgeois says. “There were a lot of people involved in getting this together, such as Mr. Billings, Mr. Soileau, Mr. McCrea, Ms. Michelle Sims, and more. It wasn’t a one-woman job, that’s for sure, but with all the moving parts, I’d say the night was very successful!”
Although this year wasn’t exactly what people thought it would be, it’s great to see people coming together to make this year memorable in the right ways.
